Next weekend is Bobbin & Weaving. If the weather forecast holds true, the temperatures will be well above freezing so we don’t have to worry about ice or snow. Hooray!
This is a perfect weekend to finish your Tri-level or Championship entries or to get garb ready for Lilies War, learn a new craft, get help or advice on something you’re having a problem with. Classes that are being offered are below.
Adelaide has offered to teach her smocked apron or pulled work napkins. If you want the apron class, you may buy supplies from her for $15 or bring 1 1/2 yards of medium weight linen, ironed, and sewing and embroidery thread. If you would like to take the napkin class the supplies will be $2.
Caitlin will bring her Sashiko/Japanese quilting class. She will be teaching one on one with a class limit of six. Supplies are $5.
Sibylla will teach her beautiful, Temari ball class. This is an 8-10 hour class. You don’t have to all start at the same time but you must start no later than 11:00 a.m. Sat. Supplies are $20.
Lasair will be offering needle felting. Material costs will vary, depending on what you choose to do. She will also be there all weekend to teach spinning.
Twilleliah will have classes on Kumihimo and naalbinding. Materials will be available at the merchants.
Johanne is giving a tablet weaving class on reading and warping “modern”/heraldic patterns without using “S” and “Z” terminology. The same principles are used in “period” loom set up. I have not given this class before so anyone taking it gets to be a Guinea pig. I will have my books available to peruse. Bring a loom or buy one of Garren’s beautiful looms. Lasair will have cards and thread to purchase. I will bring my boxes-o-threads ($5 if you dig in) and student looms if you just want to try a very short warp to practice the techniques or you can bring #10 crochet cotton in a few contrasting colors. This is a basic how to read a chart, thread and tie knots class.
